Young talent at FLUXUM Gernsheim

Dear FLUXUM enthusiasts,

Similar to good ice cream parlors or sunny vacation spots also filled up FLUXUM Gernsheim with life in the summer months. After moving in from ceres In February this year, we are now welcoming the next start-up to our GreenTech Park: Since August 1, it has been closing Symbiotic Food on our journey on the way to the day after tomorrow. But that's not all: Curiosity Day also entered the next round and this time inspired twice as many young researchers as before. All that and much more is waiting for you in this issue. Enjoy reading!

Growth in GreenTech Park: Start-up revolutionizes food industry

With Symbiotic Food The next start-up moved into FLUXUM Gernsheim and is therefore in good company: After ESY Labs, ceres and Ryon, the GreenTech Accelerator, the company is now number four on our GreenTech Park. Symbiotic Food comes from Frankfurt am Main and was founded by brothers Alexander and Andreas Zillinger.

What distinguishes the young company from the other start-ups is the products they sell — because the founders have set themselves the task of food industry to revolutionize. The result: Thanks to the latest vertical farming technology, fresh foods such as strawberries or pak choi will soon be harvested at FLUXUM Gernsheim — all year round and free of harmful substances. We are excited and happy when the systems are installed in the hall. A first glimpse of the innovative project is available in the LinkedIn post.

Science to get involved: Second Curiosity Day at FLUXUM Gernsheim

Young explorers on their way to the day after tomorrow: Curiosity Day at FLUXUM Gernsheim has entered its second round. More than 250 students explored the topic of “contamination” at various hands-on stations, which invited them to experiment in the Curiosity Cube — an old shipping container that serves as a mobile science laboratory.

After the first Curiosity Day in February was met with a lot of encouragement and enthusiasm, it quickly became clear to us that FLUXUM Gernsheim should continue to inspire young researchers. Because the more young people we can get involved in these topics, the faster we are on our way to a greener future.

Risk Management & Responsiveness: Practicing for emergencies

In July, a special appointment was held for new site users at FLUXUM Gernsheim: Hans Becher, who is responsible for the Merck crisis team, informed participants how to act in an accident situation. Among others, ESY-Labs, Ceres, ryon GreenTech Accelerator and Symbiotic Food were represented. Topics such as responsiveness, risk management and the right communication in an emergency were discussed together. As an industrial park with chemical production, safety is of course a top priority — we ensure this day in and day out.
